Thanks to a very successful #GivingTuesday and several large donations, St. Louis College Prep is well on its way to reaching its goal of raising $37,500 by Jan.1 to make sure that each and every SCP scholar has access to a Chromebook whenever they need it for success in the classroom.
We have just crossed the 30 percent mark in our fundraising efforts, bringing in a total of $11,135 so far.
The money raised at this point will provide Chromebooks for 44 scholars, but we still need your help to raise enough for the other 106 scholars who still need dependable access to this key educational resource.
Why it matters:
Whether they are studying physics or literature, geometry or history, Spanish or music, we believe that access to technology and the plethora of information available on the internet will make our scholars more successful students, both at our school in their future academic careers.
Through Google Classroom our scholars have immediate access to all of the materials they need to succeed, whether in the classroom or at home.
With the G Suite of apps, including productivity apps like Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides, our scholars are bale to easily collaborate on classroom projects and assignments.
Some of the other programs our scholars access regularly include:
NoRedInk - NoRedInk is an online tool used for teaching grammar, usage, mechanics and style to students in 4th through 12th grade. Teachers can assign a variety of diagnostic and instructional materials to their students through NoRedInk.
Flowcabulary - Flocabulary is a web-based learning program for all grades and subjects that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement. Teachers in more than 60,000 schools have used Flocabulary’s standards-based videos, instructional activities and formative assessments to develop core literacy skills and supplement instruction across the curriculum.
EdPuzzle - EDpuzzle empowers teachers to make any video their lesson. It allows teachers to crop a video, explain it with their own voice and embed quizzes at any time.
Kahoot! - Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform that leaves students begging for more. With a refreshingly new take on introducing a subject, formative assessment and deep discussion Kahoot! initiates conversation, leaving students on the edge of their seats. Kahoot! ensures 100% engagement by turning the classroom into a gameshow, combining multiplayer game-based learning, ease-of-use and mobile technology, creating an enchanting social experience which leaves everyone totally gripped and absorbed in the subject.
Desmos - Desmos wants to help every student learn math and love learning math. But “every student” is a lot of students so they create digital math tools and let the Internet take them to anyone who wants them. They built the best-in-class HTML5 Desmos graphing calculator, which millions of students around the world use for free. They also create activities on top of that calculator, helping students use a powerful tool to experience all the curiosity, beauty, and sense that math has to offer.
Khan Academy - Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. They tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Their math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. They have also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.
