Steve Singer [President]
Steve Singer is President of RDR Investments LLC, a consumer collections database company. He served for nine years on the Board of Education of the Clayton School District and was President for three years. He has a long term passion and commitment to providing a quality education to all children and is excited to work with St. Louis College Prep to expand on our successes and meet our challenges. He has a BA and MA in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Steve and his wife Miriam have three grown daughters.
Lynn Yearwood [Vice President]
Lynn has an extensive and broad background, ranging from experience in education, non-profits, and large corporations. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees and holds the office of Vice President at McMurry University, her alma mater, after retiring from the role of interim President in 2013. Lynn was also the president of Ready Readers, a St. Louis-based non-profit inspiring preschool aged children to read, and most recently served as chair of the nominating committee as a result of having served as president. Lynn also has experience working for a well-known St. Louis corporation, HealthLink, as the Chief Operating Officer. In addition, she has over 20 years experience as a classroom teacher, administrator, and board member, including Premier Academy in Illinois and Missouri. She has been engaged with education in one way or another her entire life, and she is truly excited to engage with similarly passionate people committed to improving education for urban youth. Lynn holds a Bachelor’s in English and Speech Education from McMurry University, a Master’s degree in Organizational Communications from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and has completed doctoral level course work in Educational Administration from St. Louis University.
Ryan Blackburn [Treasurer]
Ryan came to SCP through Social Venture Partners. He is a certified financial planner with Matter Family Office and does financial planning for a variety of high net worth clients. He has previous experience serving on a Jr board and is eager to serve on the SCP board. Ryan serves on the development committee and works to help expand our network of relationships.
Patrick Banks is an Organizational Learning Specialist at Brown Shoe Company. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Wabash College he entered the Teach For America program as a corps member where he taught high school biology, chemistry, and physical science in St. Louis Public Schools. He has also earned a Master’s degree in Public Service from the Clinton School of Public Service. Patrick has worked as an arts education consultant for the City of Newport, Arkansas and helped develop a science curriculum for five schools in Western Kenya. In his free time, Patrick has set a goal of running a half marathon in every state and enjoys playing ultimate frisbee competitively.
Steve is the VP of Sales for Schaefer Manufacturing where he has 25 years of experience with their organization. Steve has extensive experience in working with strategic leadership and planning with Schaefer and has overseen all the sales and marketing efforts for them. Steve received his Bachelor’s from Missouri Baptist University, and has experience in real estate. Steve is planning to also join the development committee to work with assisting marketing and development efforts for the growth of SCP.
Javad is currently a founding partner at KLS Law, founder and CEO of Road to Status, LLC, an executive board member Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation, and a partner at the law firm Cantwell & Cantwell. Javad and his co-founder have partnered with many organizations in St Louis, including Arch City Defenders which seeks to provide legal counsel for many underserved communities into our city. Javad has a large network of relationships in the city as well as previous experience with a charter school board (Legal Prep charter school in Chicago). Javad is joining our governance committee to utilize his former board experience and understanding of governance to help strengthen this committee for the future health of the board. Javad received his bachelor’s at the Univeristy of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his J.D. at Washington University School of Law.
Susan Aud Pendergrass
Susan Aud Pendergrass is the Senior Director for Research and Evaluation for the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. She received a BS in business from the University of Colorado, an MBA from George Washington University and a doctorate in public policy from George Mason University. Susan began researching charter schools with her dissertation on the competitive effects of Massachusetts charter schools and and since then, she has conducted numerous studies on the fiscal impact of school choice legislation. She is currently a senior fellow at the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice and the James Madison Institute. Susan has also taught at the Paul H. Nitze School for Advanced International Studies, at Johns Hopkins University, and at the School of Public Policy at George Mason University. Prior to coming to the National Alliance, Susan was a senior policy adviser at the U.S. Department of Education during the Bush administration and a senior research scientist at the National Center for Education Statistics during the Obama administration.
